Radha-Krishna Temple (J.k Temple)

J.K. temple has completed its 50 year of establishment. It was established under the company named J.K trust due to this reason the Radha-Krishna temple is also called J.K temple. Temple is spread around a wide area of 30 acres mostly surrounded by greenery.
JK temple is situated at the middle of Temple area surrounded by large gardens with different types of flowering plants and these gardens are shadowed by large mango trees that make temples environment very pleasant. There are idols are worshipped daily by thousands of followers. The whole temple is 24 hours under CCTV surveillance, which are viewed by Uttar Pradesh Police department.


Patthar Ghat

Resting on the banks of the sacred river Ganges, Patthar Ghat is a prominent tourist attraction in Bithoor, a suburb in Kanpur!
Patthar Ghat was carved entirely out of the red sandstone by the funds of Tikait Rai who was once a minister of Awadh.
Just like other ghats in the suburb, this ghat is also frequently visited by the locals and the visitors on a large-scale because of its religious and spiritual significance!
On a daily basis, the priests of the temple conduct aartis and numerous people participate in it so you can drop by with the elderly right here!




Massacre Ghat

The Ghat- river bank was a revered and auspicious location in the pre-colonial times. It is said that some women had gathered here to commit Sati here and in their commemoration a temple was created.
But what the ghat is most known for is its role in the 1857 ‘Siege of Cawnpore’. It is believed to be the place where, on June 27, 300 British men, women and children were killed during the Sepoy Mutiny.


Nana Rao Park

The old memorial which was demolished the Nana Rao Park in Kanpur is another visit worthy place. The Park which was earlier called Company Bagh, housed a memorial well built in the memory of the women and children who were ‘allegedly’ killed in “Bibighar Massacre” in 1857. It is said that people who escaped from the Massacre Ghat were tracked down to the ‘Bibighar’ and killed 200 British women and children. It was followed by punitive actions against the inhabitants of Kanpur by the British government which included paying £30,000 for the construction of this memorial.
After india’s independence the memorial was demolished and a lush park was created in its stead. the park today houses statues of eminent people who played a part in the Indian independence struggle. The statues include inspirational figures like Rani Lakshmi Bai, Lala Lajpat Rai, Ajizan Bai and Tatya Tope.




Kanpur Memorial Church

another important “relic” in the history of Kanpur is the Kanpur Memorial Church. Built in 1857 the church was called ‘All Soul Church’ and was built by the British in memorial of the people killed during the Siege of Cawnpore. The church is an architectural masterpiece built in the traditional Lombardic Gothic Style. The church houses a beautifully carved figure of an angel with crossed arms and holding patons: a symbol of peace.
The church is symbolic of the struggle people of Kanpur did and the memorial of all lives lost.


Kanpur Archive or Museum

This place is also a center of attraction of Kanpur, which introduces us to its history. A large number of artefacts, souvenirs have been kept in this museum. Which tells the history of the people of the city who fought with the British for the independence of India. The main attraction here is the historical cannon which dates back to the time of the British people. Established in the year 1999, this museum is currently located in Phool Bagh on Mall Road.




Kanpur Zoological Park

Opened in 1971, this zoo is one of the best zoos in India, it is the third largest zoo in India in terms of area. It is one of the main attraction centers of Kanpur, people often go here for picnics. All kinds of animals, birds etc. can be seen here. It is located in Nawabganj, Kanpur.


Jajmau

Jajmau was known as Siddhapuri in ancient times. This place was under the king Yayati of Puranic period. Presently there is a temple of Siddhanath here. Also Jajmau is famous for the tomb of the popular Sufi saint Makhdoom Shah Alaul Haq. This tomb was built by Firoz Gah Tughlaq in 1358 AD. The main attraction here is the mosque, built by Quli Khan in 1679. Between 1957 and 58, excavation was done here, in which many ancient things were found




Phool Bagh Garden Of Flowers

Phool Bagh, Kanpur is also known as 'Ganesh Udyan. Phool Bagh is one of the most beautiful and exquisite parks which is situated in the heart of the picturesque city of Kanpur on the Mall Road.
The Phool Bagh would have been just another of the gardens in Kanpur. In the center of the park there is a building or memorial which is called the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (K.E.M. Hall). After the first World War there was an Orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital run in this building. Phool Bagh, Kanpur is the perfect destination for any family outing as the Bagh provides the visitors with a serene and peaceful feeling.


Anandeshwar Temple / Paramat

This is a very famous Shiva temple of Kanpur which is related to Jana Akhara. It is said that the history of this temple dates back to the Mahabharata period. It is an ancient temple built in about three acres on the banks of the Ganges and is one of the major tourist places of Kanpur.




Valmiki Ashram

Bithoor is believed to have been the site for several episodes of Ramayan.Sita spent time at the Valmiki Ashram after being exiled by Lord Ram, Luv,and Kush, Lord Ram and Sita's twins were born and met their father here and sage Valmikiwrote the epic Ramayan.


Dhruva Teela

The DhruvaTeela is the fabled place where Dhruv had meditated on one leg during his childhood. Apart from these, there are other sites that are well worth a mention and these include Jahangir Mosque, Haridham Ashram, Ram Janki temple,Lav-Kush temple, and Nana SahebSmarak.




Sai Baba Mandir, Bithoor

• SaiDarbaar is situated at the bank of river Ganga at Bithoor. Environment around saidarbar is quiet and refreshing. Every day many religious persons come at saidarbar to worship ShriSainath. But on thursday thousands of people comes to make wishes as it is considered to be GURU DAY.

• The temple has a beautiful ideal of Sai Baba in the center of darbaar. There is an old tree where peoples tie kaleva (holy thread). As they believe that this will fulfills their wishes. A beautiful lawn at the side of darbaar is very beautiful.


Sudhanshu Ji Ashram

• Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj Ashram located in Bithur is run by VishwaJagriti Mission. The ashram has a vast campus and has an artificial Kailash mountain and Radha Krishna temple located on the premises. The ashram with VishwaJagriti Mission (VJM) is involved in the charitable activities.

Brahmavart Ghat

• Abode of Lord Brahma, Bithoor is a located on the banks of Ganga River in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The town is renowned for its religious and historical significance. It was one of the epicentres of the Revolt of 1857.

• Bithoor was once called Brahmavart. According to legend, after the destruction of the universe and reconstruction of the galaxy by Lord Vishnu, Brahma selected Bithoor as his abode and performed a yagna here. Hence, the place was christened as Brahmavart.


Bithoor

In the 19th century, the last Peshwa was exiled here and the town was renamed as Bithoba Nagar from Brahmavart. Over time, the town came to be called as Bithoor.Rani Laxmibai was born here.

During the First War of Independence, Bithoor became a rallying point for the rebellion against the British East India Company. However,Bithoor was captured by General Havelock in 1857. Today, Bithoor attracts a large number of pilgrims who visit the BrahmavartGhat and Valmiki Ashram, which are the prime attraction of the town.




Panki Hanuman Mandir

Silver embossed, eight feet Sinduri Hanuman, bright and childish face Bala Hanuman blessed in (Panki Hanuman Mandir) at morning. The youthful face as Brahmachari at noon and at evening look like adult as Maha Purush Actual name of the temple is Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, one of the very famous temple of Lord Hanuman in north India. The temple having three sided entrance from the east, north and west.


Jain Glass Temple

Jain Glass temple is a place of worship for devotees belonging to the Jain religious community. Constructed in the old traditional architectural style, this temple is adorned with glass and mirror work. The temple features marble floor, decorated ceilings and ornamental arches. The display of murals made of stained glass is the highlight of the temple.

These murals are beautifully carved and narrate the teachings of the Jain scriptures. The temple is enshrined with the statues of Lord Mahavira along with the 23 Jain Tirthankaras foundation.




Bara Devi Temple

The history of this temple says that once a goddess got quite annoyed by her father and SO established herself and her eleven sisters in this very temple. This is how the temple got its name as the "Bara devi”


Bhitargaon Temple

The Bhitargaon Temple is a terraced brick building fronted with a terracotta panel. Built in the 5th century during the Gupta period, it is the oldest remaining brick/terracotta Hindu shrine with a roof and a high Shikhara, though its upper chamber did sustain some damage in the 18th century.

The temple is built on a square plan with double-recessed corners and faces east. There tall pyramidal spire over the garbhagriha. The walls are decorated with terracotta panels depicting aquatic monsters, Shiva and Vishnu etc. When Cunningham first visited the site, the remains of the porch and of the ardhamandapa were still visible, which later collapsed.

Queen Victoria Park

During the reign of Queen Victoria in Britain, the park was named as Queen Victoria Garden. King Edward ruled Britain from 1901 to 1910. In 1876, as the Prince of Wales, he had been the first British royal prince to visit India on state visit, after the control of India passed from East India Company hands to British Crown. During this trip to India, he had visited Kanpur as well.


Gandhi Bhawan

European merchants who had settled in Cawnpore, felt the need for a European style amusement center in Cawnpore.
On the death of King Edward in Britain, the hall was initially established as a memorial to commemorate his 1876 visit to Cawnpore and was named as K. E. M Hall. The funds for the park were collected from European traders settled in Kanpur and Indian merchants.
The K.E.M. (King Edward Memorial) Hall was initially planned as a wooden dancing floor for Western style, ball room dancing. Due to outbreak of World War I in 1914, construction of the hall was interrupted. There was a regular hospital in Kanpur Cantonment for soldiers injured in the World War. As the facilities in this hospital were not adequate, the K.E.M. Hallwas temporarily used to house wounded World War I British soldiers in the temporary hospital inside KEM Hall.
Nana Rao Park / Company Bagh is a public city park in Kanpur city, the industrial hub of Uttar Pradesh in North India build after Indian Independence in honor of Nana Sahib. Prior to Indian Independence the location was known as Memorial Well and commemorated the massacre of British women and children during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.




Memorial Well (1858 to 1947)

The location was originally called Memorial Well after the memorial was raised to commemorate the dead. The memorial had a large railing, a marble gothic screen with "mournful seraph" and a cross at the site of the well. The inhabitants of Cawnpore were forced to pay £30,000 for the creation of the memorial; this was partially their punishment for not coming to the aid of the women and children.


Allen Forest Zoo

Allen Forest Zoo is established in 1971 by government of India on the plans of sir Allen at the heart of city. It is one of the largest zoo in Asia it is spread over more than 1000 acres of land.
Special fact about this zoo is it was a forest several years ago, Sir Allen suggested to make a zoo in natural forest that will provides animals a natural habitat there are also plenty of ancient trees. The zoo is also famous for its lake which is a natural habitat for thousands of migratory birds.




Green Park Stadium

It is the only international cricket stadium of Uttar Pradesh situated on the bank of river ganga by the government of India. It was established in 1945 and the first match played here was in 1952. The stadium is a multi sports stadium but mostly famous as cricket stadium as it is only international stadium in Uttar pradesh. But there are many other events that take place at green park, like football, Taekwondo etc. The pitch of the stadium is not favorable for batsman therefore very international matches few are scheduled to be played in green park, mostly domestic cricket is played in the stadium like Ranji trophy, Matches between different local clubs.


Moti Jheel

Moti Jheel is a lake and drinking water reservoir in the Benajhabar area of Kanpur, which together with its adjoining gardens and children's park is an important tourist attraction.
Built during the British Raj, today along with Kamala Retreat and Moti Park, it is an important recreational place in the bustling industrial city of Kanpur, once known as "Manchester of the East"




Kamla Retreat

Kamla Retreat is a popular tourist resort in Kanpur which was built by Shri Padam Pat Singhania, an eminent Industrialist of India, in the year 1960. The Retreat is located on Kamla Nehru Road.

Officially named as Lav Kush Barrage, this bridge across the Ganges lies at Azad Nagar-Nawabganj in Kanpur. Construction started in 1995 and inaugurated in May 2000. The total length is 621 m and will serve as a four lane Highway Bypass for NH 91
